H. Anthony “Tony” Ruckel began practicing environmental law in 1967. He served as a Regional Director and staff attorney for the Sierra Club Legal Defense Fund from 1972 to 1986 and currently serves on the volunteer committee of lawyers advising the Sierra Club’s legal program. Mr. Ruckel’s experience in a wide array of federal and state courts on the trial and appellate levels, including the U.S. Supreme Court, and before government administrative agencies, has given him unique insights into the legal, political, and social aspects of the environmental movement.
Mr. Ruckel continues to personally explore and photograph the country’s parks, monuments and wilderness areas, particularly those in the West. For all his learning and courtroom expertise, he remains a passionate member of the Coyote Clan.
